There was no finished name or story waiting before the materials arrived.
When we first saw the turquoise chips, it was their blue-green color, irregular shapes, and natural variations that began to suggest the feeling of the piece.
That eventually became Desert Rain.
Rather than building the bracelet as a continuous row of large stones, we chose a much lighter structure using only turquoise chips and 925 sterling silver.
One of the details we spent the most time considering was the spacing between the turquoise pieces and the sterling silver tubes.
The silver interrupts the turquoise at measured intervals, so the stones do not become one continuous block of color. Repeating that relationship around the bracelet creates a visual rhythm—turquoise, silver, space, then turquoise again.
It gives the individual stones more room to be noticed.
It also makes Desert Rain easier to wear in different ways.
